Improve Respiratory muscles

People with MS experience limitations in muscle strength and endurance. This can include the respiratory muscles. Respiratory muscle weakness can lead to diminished performance on coughing which may result in (aspiration) pneumonia or even acute ventilary failure, complications that frequently cause death in MS patients.

Deep breathing exercises can help! Pursed lip breathing:

Simply breath in deeply through nose and breath out at least twice as long, through mouth with pursed lips. Do for 5-10 minutes daily.

  1. Hi Kim,
I enjoyed reading your blog posts about your life experiences, as well as those about your family. You posted on my website – Life in Spite of MS – however, I’d love it if you could repost a little more about yourself before it goes live. If you write it in a document over a few days and then copy and paste it when you are ready to submit, that might make it easier. I usually don’t include one line posts on our site because our visitors love to read longer content (similar to yours here on your blog). Either way I loved reading your story on the first page of your blog. It shows just how resilient you are. I look forward to adding your revised post to our site (you can just do another one), if you feel like adding one. If you do, I will add a link to your blog as well, so that visitors can find you here.

Take care, and keep enjoying life and doing what you can do as long as you can do it!

    Akrista
