Why Vitamin D is so important

Many people do not get enough sun exposure and thus aren’t getting adequate levels of vitamin D. There is growing evidence that vitamin D is important in preventing MS and improving your health outcomes if you have MS. People who have MS and take vitaminD supplements may have symptoms that aren’t as bad as they would be if they did’t take vitamin D. Also symptoms may occur less often.

Taking Vitamin D may lower the risk of relapse and may decrease new scarring in the nervous system. Taking the supplement may lengthen the time it takes to progress from relapsing-remittent MS to secondary-progressive MS.
